Summary

The University of Dayton - American Cultural Center officially opened in December 2014 at the University of Dayton China Institute, in Suzhou Industrial Park, China. The Center aims at enhancing mutual understanding between cultures and particularly, introducing American culture and history to Chinese students, company employees and local residents in Suzhou and surrounding areas. As of now, the University of Dayton - American Cultural Center is the only one located in an industrial park in China.

Weiping Wang

Associate Provost

Executive Director, China Institute

University of Dayton

Dr. Weiping Wang is Associate Provost and Executive Director of the China Institute at the University of Dayton. She is also the Director of the American Cultural Center in the UD China Institute, located in Suzhou Industrial Park, China. She graduated from Nanjing University in 1982 with a B.A. degree in Philosophy. She was a lecturer in the Law Department of Nanjing University from 1982 to early 1990, during which she spent one year in the School of Law, Duke University, as a visiting scholar. In 2000, she received her Ph.D. in Legal Studies from La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia. Her teaching and research areas focus on law and society, social responsibility in business, and cross-cultural studies.

Dr. Wang has since 1997 made great efforts in developing cooperative relationships between American and Chinese universities. She has assisted the University of Dayton in establishing academic exchanges/collaborations with universities in China, particularly in Jiangsu Province. She has also worked at building close connections between education and industry, and more recently, facilitated the university’s development in the China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park.
